Schedule Constructability Review
A schedule can pass every technical check — clean logic, no open ends, a tidy critical path — and still be unbuildable. The constructability review asks the question software can't: would this actually work on site? Built on AACE 48R-06.
What a constructability review is
Module 3B has been about building a sound schedule. The constructability review is the moment you step back from the software and ask the practical question: does this reflect how we'll really build it? It's the bridge between a technically valid CPM and a schedule the field can execute.
Schedule constructability vs. design constructability
"Constructability" appears twice in this track, and they're different. This lesson is about the schedule; the next (30R-03) is about the broader program of building constructability into the project.

What you actually examine
A constructability review walks the schedule through the eyes of the person who has to build it. Key things to test:
- Sequence realism — does the order match how the work is physically built? No pouring before rebar, no finishes before the building's watertight.
- Access & work fronts — can crews actually reach and occupy the areas when scheduled? Are too many activities crammed into one space at once (trade stacking)?
- Resource feasibility — are crews, cranes, and equipment realistically available — not double-booked across simultaneous activities?
- Duration achievability — are the durations buildable with the planned crews — not optimistic to hit a date? (Ties back to Lesson 3.)
- Logistics & constraints — deliveries, laydown, weather windows, permits, interfaces — does the schedule respect the real-world constraints of the site?
When to do it, and who's in the room
The most valuable time to run a constructability review is before baselining — while the schedule can still be changed cheaply. Catching an impossible sequence on paper costs an afternoon; catching it on site costs weeks. It's also worth repeating before major rebaselines or recovery efforts (Module 3C), when sequences are being reworked.

- A constructability review tests if the schedule is physically buildable — not just logically valid.
- Software checks logic; only people check buildability — stacking, access, crane conflicts.
- Schedule constructability ≠ design constructability (48R-06 vs 30R-03, next).
- Check sequence realism — the order must match how work is physically built.
- Check access & work fronts — beware trade stacking in one space.
- Check resource feasibility — crews/cranes not double-booked across activities.
- Check durations & logistics — achievable with the crews; deliveries, weather, permits respected.
- Do it before baselining — fixing an impossible sequence on paper is cheap.
- Get the builders in the room — supers, foremen, subs supply the reality.
- Skipping it creates a "valid" baseline the field abandons — a reporting fiction.
